Honeybees

Honey Bees are fascinating insects. We’ve been enjoying their sweet yummy honey for thousands of years, but recently it hasn’t been so sweet for our bees. Honey bee colonies are dwindling, does the term colony collapse disorder or CCD ring a bell? Beekeepers such as myself have been losing anywhere from 30-50% of their hives yearly. Pesticides, mites & disease are all to blame. Come learn how local municipalities and farms are making a difference by helping  beekeepers care for these amazing insects.

If you’re brave enough, We’ll take you to our LIVE bee hives on site, where thousands of honey bees are buzzing and working profusely pollinating and bringing in nectar and pollen. You’ll put on an actual bee suits, the same bee suits beekeepers wear, light a bee smoker, and take a short walk to live bee hives. These hives are bustling with thousands of bees coming and going. Our Beekeeper will then open a hive and show you the works of the hive,  pure raw honey and honeycombs. You may even catch a glimpse or her royal majesty the queen bee!
